Advanced electrical steels engineered to support efficient, reliable electric machines across industrial and automotive applications - from proven industrial grades to high-performance e-mobility solutions
End-to-end technical and supply support to strengthen performance, flexibility and long-term programme stability.
ArcelorMittal is shaping the future of electrical steels with one of its largest ever investments in Europe, together with a ‘next-generation’ offering of innovative electrical steels for the fast-moving mobility and energy transition markets – all supported by the creation of a new dedicated, multi-disciplinary customer satisfaction team, designed to partner with customers on co-engineering new product developments for them from start to finish.
ArcelorMittal’s electrical steels, specifically non-grain-oriented electrical steels (NGOES), are key drivers in the evolving energy transition, particularly in electric vehicles, generators for data centres and renewables.
We have recently announced that ArcelorMittal France is preparing to launch a new electrical steels production line in Mardyck, – the largest ArcelorMittal investment in Europe in the past 10 years, increasing its electrical steels capacity three-fold from 100,000 to circa 300,000 tonnes per year. Supplied by its upstream Dunkerque and Fos-sur-Mer flat steel plants, this makes by which ArcelorMittal is the only EU steelmaker with the capacity and supply security of two primary and two finishing plants.
With this new unit, which complements the electrical steels existing facility at ArcelorMittal’s Saint-Chély-d’Apcher site in France, ArcelorMittal is expanding its European offering in electrical steels to support the electrification of applications, particularly in the automotive, energy and wider industrial sectors.
ArcelorMittal’s unique production and finishing capacity in Europe dedicated to electrical steels.
In tandem with the ramp-up in electrical steels production, we have launched a new dedicated, multi-disciplinary customer satisfaction team to support our ‘next-generation’ offering of innovative solutions. This team is specifically designed to offer our customers co-engineering support from ‘start to finish’ on their motor/generator product development projects – covering pre-development, design, materials approval, prototyping, pre-series configuration, and project ramp-up. Our team can help at each and every stage.
Our new customer satisfaction team is led by Eric Vasseur, supported by Vincent Eustache (Technical Coordinator) and his team, David Kieffer (Business Development), Caroline Vervaet (Service Support) and our dedicated R&D co-ordinator for electrical steels innovation, Lode Vandenbossche.
